There are two opportunities to volunteer for Donate Dinner:

1. Volunteer Team Leaders recruit and oversee a team of 12 volunteers at a store on a given day. Here are the specifics:

  • Coordinate all the volunteers for one day at a single store location between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. (you do not need to be at the store all day)
  • Greet volunteers at beginning of each two-hour shift and thank them for coming
  • Provide volunteers with Donate Dinner buttons and aprons to wear and Donate Dinner cards to distribute to customers
  • Review script with each volunteer (see below)
  • Collect buttons, aprons and cards at the end of each shift

If you are interested in organizing a team, contact Gail Anderson at 503.736.6325 ext. 25914

2. Volunteer Greeters greet customers as they come into the stores and distribute Donate Dinner cards.

Here's how it works:

1. Select a grocery store from the list of participating grocers below.

2. Select a date – Donate Dinner takes place Saturday through Wednesday, Nov. 17—21, 2007

3. Register for a two-hour shift sometime between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on one of the available days* (you may register for more than one shift!).

4. Greet customers as they come into the store and say, “Hi! I’m a volunteer with Loaves & Fishes Centers, The Meals-On-Wheels People. If you would like to donate a meal to help feed seniors, just tell the cashier when you check out.”

*Volunteers must be 18 years old or older unless they can volunteer with a parent or adult supervisor.
